Connecting Computer/Laptop/Tablet or Smartphone to Big Screen
Here is where we have all the solutions to connect your device to the big screen.

Quick Tips for Use

Before you use the troubleshooting options we will give some quick tips and possible causes and corrections to issues to try to correct.

1. TV Channel Not Loading – Please note, when you have clicked play you may have to wait a few seconds for the TV channel to stabilize. Make sure you have given the channels a decent amount of time to play. We suggest if the the video has not began to play within 2 minutes there is an issue with either that channel or connection server. Also make sure your Internet connection is working as well. Many times an Internet connection can go off for a few moments. If you have tried the TV channels several times with no connection then more than likely it is the TV channel causing the issues.

2. No Video or Sound – Make sure you have the current video player plugins on your computer or browser. If you have updated your operating system and/or your browser lately then it should automatically update the needed plugins. Older computers can check our Media Player and Codec section below to make sure you have the updated media players and plugins for older operating systems.

Another common issue for no video or sound is your Web browser. See below in our Suggested Browser section for suggestions to correct any issues with your browser.

3. Bad audio/video quality at certain channel – These Internet TV Networks leverages P2P technology to allow anyone effectively broadcast to a global audience. Bad audio/video quality can be caused by the following:

A. The source of the content is in low broadcast quality — nothing you can do about this if broadcast is low quality.
B. You have limited bandwidth, and TV Player is not able to download the needed data — some ISP limit bandwidth that can case quality issues.
C. There is an in-balance in the total upload/download for this channel — this is also a broadcaster issue.
D. You current computer/laptop/tablet graphics card is outdated or low quality. Older graphic cards will not broadcast HD quality. If your computer or laptop is older than 8 years old you may want to update your graphics card to a new version which will give you top quality video.

4. Buffer up to 100% with no picture and sound – This usually happens on movies streams. The issue is most often caused by problem with the broadcaster. Click the play button a couple of times to see if the video is connecting. Many times this happens when too many people are connected to the server.

5. Nothing happens, when I select a channel – Possible causes are:

A. Network connection is down.
B. Firewall or anti virus software blocks the network access for TV Networks. You need to grant TV Networks the permission for network access.
C. You have disabled your pop ups… some channels do open in new pop up window. You can temporary allow for this programming to avoid this happening. This is done through your browser settings.

Another common issue for no video or sound is your Web browser. See below in our Suggested Browser section for suggestions to correct any issues with your browser.

6. TV Player’s buffering level keeps being low (less than 50%) and the picture does not start – Likely the cause is due to network congestion. If you have over 500kbps bandwidth this will usually connect after a short period of time. If you have a lower connection than 500kbps you will need to wait until the network clears before connecting.

7. Some funny characters appear in the channel list – The software supports multiple languages. If you do not have Unicode Character set installed, non-western character will not be displayed properly.

No Video and/or Sound on ALL TV Channels

As mentioned in the Quick Tips we will give you some solutions if you are getting no video and or sound on ANY of the TV channels or programming we provide.

If you are getting most of the TV channels and are not getting one or two, then more than likely it is the broadcast. You can email us to let us know and we will look into the channel.

Solution #1 – We find the main cause for none of the TV channels or programming playing is your browser you are using. Even if it worked in the past many times browsers will not keep up with the latest video plugins or a setting has been changed in your browser that can’t easily be identified. You can try to reset your browser setting to default settings which may fix the issue. However, the easiest solution is to update or change your Web browser.

We find Google Chrome is the best browser which keeps up with video plugins. If you are using an older version or a different Web browser we will suggest to update to the latest Google Chrome:

If you are currently using Google Chrome and have updated it and are still having issues, then try downloading the latest Firefox:

Solution # 2 – If you have updated your Web browser as suggested and are still getting no video and/or sound then you may need to update your operating system. Many times the main codecs provided in operating system gets outdated. An update in your operating system can usually fix this issue.

If you are using a computer operating system older than 10 years, then it may be time to update to the latest operating system. Many OS like Widows ME no longer have updated available.

Solution # 3 – Another issue with not getting video and/or sound could be your ISP (Internet Service Provider) which may have blocked access to the programming. This is very rare and is usually a broad block and not isolated to our program. Some countries do block complete IP ranges of broadcasting. You may want to contact your ISP to see if they block content. If so you should look for a new ISP.

Solution # 4 – You will need to make sure you do have the latest Codecs, media players and Flash Player. As mentioned if you have a newer computer with newer operating system you should have all the needed plugins already installed. If your computer is older and/or you have not updated your OS or browser in a long time we will suggest to visit the Media Player & Plugins section below.

Poor Quality of Video and/or Sound on ALL TV Channels

If you are getting poor quality on ALL of the TV channels more than likely you will need to update your computer or graphics card. About 80% of our broadcasts are now in HD or SD which is top quality. However, the quality only can go as far as your system you are using to view allows.

Solution #1 – The first suggestion is to switch to a different Web browser. Many times an updated Web browser will have optimal settings for video quality. We list the download links for Google Chrome and/or Firefox in section above.

Solution #2 – Update your computer and/or video graphics card. You can usually start with changing your video graphics card to an updated HD card. These are very inexpensive nowadays. You can find a top quality HD video graphics card on eBay for as little as $50 and are very easy to install.

Here is a video on how to change video card in HP desktop computer:

Most computers graphic cards are replaced like what is shown in the video for HP desktop computer

Solution #3 (Jumpy or Lagging Video)– If you are getting a good picture and/or sound but the video is jumpy, then here is what you can do. After you start the TV channel or movie, click the pause button on video player. Keep paused for about 2 to 3 minutes, then click play and the stream will continue with out buffer lag. This works great for movies and can sometimes work for live channels as well.

Solution #4 – Completely update your computer, laptop, tablet, etc to the latest version. All new computers are enhanced with top video playback.

Media Players & Plugins

We will suggest if you are having issues with video playing on your computer and you have already tried the previously mentioned solutions such as updating Web browser, OS, etc., then you can directly download the needed plugins we provide.

Activate Flash Player in Browser

If you are having issues with video or audio playing for any of the channels:

Check your browser search bar to make sure your Flash plugin is active, you will need to allow the Adobe Flash plugin to activate in your actual browser.

Finally, you may want to try a different Web browser, for example if you are using Firefox, then try Google Chrome, If you are using Google Chrome, try Internet Explorer, etc. etc.

PLUGIN (Adobe Flash – All Operating Systems)

The most commonly used plugin is Adobe Flash. You can use on WIndows, Linux or MAC.

You can get the latest Adobe Flash version HERE

Download Instructions:

1st Step – Select your operating system from the drop down

2nd Step – Select a version based on your Web Browser

3rd Step – Click the “Download now” button after making selection

4th Step – After you save the file, open and click “RUN” and this will install automatically to the needed location on your computer. You may be prompted that you have an older version and asked if you want to overwrite, click YES to overwrite.

If you already have the latest Adobe Flash, then the download will not take place.

PLUGIN (Java Script – All Operating Systems)

Most computers will run Java script and it is uncommon for your computer not to have the current version because this should be updated with your normal Windows or Mac updates. It will not hurt to update your Java as it may solve some of your video display issues. You can update your computer’s Java as follows:

WINDOWS (ALL VERSIONS) – GO TO THIS LINK FOR DOWNLOAD – UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

MAC – OS X (ALL VERSIONS) – GO TO THIS LINK FOR DOWNLOAD – UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

CODECS (Older Windows Operating Systems)

If your computer is older than 8 years and you haven’t updated your OS or Web Browser, we will suggest to download one of the two codec packs.

Pack #1 K-Lite Codec Pack (For Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista) – K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools. Codecs are required to encode and/or decode (play) audio and video. The K-Lite Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files. With the K-Lite Codec Pack you should be able to play 99% of all the movies and TV channels that you view from the internet. DOWNLOAD HERE

Pack #2 XP Codec Pack (Windows 95,98,ME) – K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools. Codecs are required to encode and/or decode (play) audio and video. The K-Lite Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files. iPad Users

For iPad users there are a few common issues you may have that will allow video playback.

Although recently we are doing more updates to provide programming in iFrame which allows more video to be played on iPads. Some stream we provide do still use Flash which iPads sometimes have issues with Flash.

You can find third-party flash apps for iPads if you can’t use versions of Adobe. The easiest way to find flash apps for iPads is to go to iTunes and do a search for “Flash Players for iPad” and you will get some free versions you can try.

In the future there will be no issues on iPads as we completely convert to iFrame.

Connecting Computer/Laptop/Tablet or Smartphone to Big Screen

There are several ways that you can stream your TV from your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone directly to your big screen TV. How this is done will depend on your current set up of your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone as well as your TV set up.

We will show the most common ways to stream to your big screen TV depending on your situation.

SMART TV – Using a smart TV can allow you to simply stream from your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. There are two common ways to do this:

  1. If your Smart TV uses a Web browser app, you can simply login to our members area and stream directly through Smart TV.
  2. If you have Wi-Fi on your Smart TV, then you can use a third-party software to connect the device to your big screen. A common app for Samsung Smart TVs is called AllShare, you can find out more HERE.

The AllShare does mention that it can connect Apple iPhone and iPads to Samsung Smart TVs which is the only software other than Apple TV that can do this. (See Apple TV below)

CHROMECAST – Maybe the easiest way to stream from your devices to TV is to use Chromecast. You can buy the needed hardware that plugs directly into your TV for around $35 and is available at Best Buy or most large electronic stores. You can also find deals on eBay as well.

Once you have the Chromecast it is simple to stream any content from your computer, laptops, tablet or Android smartphone directly to your TV using a free app called “Google Cast” which installs directly on computer, browser or desktop.

Here is a video to show how to install and use the Chromecast:

DIRECT CABLE CONNECT – Another simple way is to connect your computer, laptop or tablet (no smartphones) directly to your big screen TV. Depending on your computer and TV output/input will determine which method to use.

HDMI CONNECTION

hdmi_thumb_xonu

The most common connection on newer devices is through HDMI cables.

Here is a video to show you how to connect HDMI cable from computer or laptop to big screen TV:

Most laptops will automatically come with an HDMI port. However, most desktop PCs will not. If you want to use HDMI on your desktop and you don’t have an HDMI port, you can get a DVI to HDMI converter plug. You can get these at any electronics store or go to eBay and type a search for “DVI to HDMI”

S-VIDEO CONNECTION

s-video_thumb

Many desktops will have this option currently available. I will use an S-Video cable that will directly connect your desktop PC to big screen TV. Most newer TVs still have S-Video input so you should be okay on TV side even if your TV is newer.

You may also need to connect the sound RCA jacks which are the white and red RCA input/outputs. So connect the red output from your computer to the red input on TV, then do the same for white output/input. This will then give you the video and sound from computer to the TV.

SCAN CONVERTER BOX

scanconverter_thumb

This option is for real old computers that don’t have S-Video or HDMI. This involves using a scan converter box, which takes a VGA signal and converts it into S-Video or component video. Once you have this then you can use the S-Video method previously mentioned.

You can get a scan box at most large electronics stores or on eBay for very low price.

APPLE TV

The only current way to connect your iPad or iPhone to your big screen TV is through Apple TV. There may be some other alternatives you can search, but these are not approved by Apple.

What you will need is a device called Apple TV which costs around $100. It will allow you to directly stream content from your iPad or iPhone to your big screen tv using Wi-Fi connection.

Here is a video on how to set up and use Apple TV:

You can purchase Apple TV directly from iTunes store or on eBay,

We have now covered the most common ways to connect your computer, laptop, tables or smartphone directly to your big screen TV.
